Course Description
This course is designed for the nonmarine professional who wants basic knowledge of the industry and for the marine professional who wants to learn more about the appraisal side of the industry. Topics covered in the course include:
- Marine equipment and its special language;
- The marine industry and function of marine surveyors and appraisers;
- The three approaches to value as they apply to commercial and yacht appraisal;
- Identification of marine equipment and systems, both commercial and yacht;
- Preparing an appraisal report; and
- Different types of Bluewater and Brownwater equipment.

Instructional Methods
Methods include lectures, discussions and individual/ group exercises and assignments.
Course Audience
Appraisers, accountants, attorneys, auctioneers, bankers, engineers, leasing company staff, farm managers, forensic consultants, shop staff, and the appraisal community at large who are involved in the valuation of machinery and equipment.

Accessing eMaterials
eMaterials are provided electronically in PDF format and posted to the class within class Handouts tab for all registrants to securely access prior to the start of the class. Attendees should come to class prepared with an electronic or printed copy of all eMaterials to use as a reference. OnDemand course registrants receive access to materials immediately following registration.
PDF course materials are presented in color, are bookmarked, and comment enabled. When opting to print downloaded materials, it is recommended that personal print settings be adjusted to print in black and white (or grayscale) and consider printing double-sided on recycled paper.
Certificate of Completion
Please allow 5-10 business day following successful completion of the course or final exam to receive a formal status notification and access to a certificate of completion. The certificate will be available to view and download/print from within the class Certificate tab.

Taxi A cab ride costs approximately $36 from the airport to the city center for one or two people and $15 per passenger for three or more passengers. Rental Car Nine rental car companies operate at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. The MSY Consolidated Car Rental Center is open 24 hours a day/7 days a week/365 days a year.
