Webinar Description
This presentation will offer a comprehensive overview of Fei Cui (more than jadeite), including its definition, quality evaluation, identification and geological origins. For untreated jadeite (A Jade), we will discuss the main factors that influence its quality and value. We will also explore the identification techniques of commonly treated Fei Cui (B Jade, B+C Jade) and imitations. For Fei Cui from different origins, we will focus on the distinguish of Fei Cui from Myanmar and Guatemala, which is a challenge for jewelry industry now.

Zemin Luo is a jade researcher and jewelry appraiser in the San Francisco Bay Area. She had been a researcher and lecturer at the Gemological Institute, China University of Geoscience, Wuhan, for approximately 7 years. Her research focuses on determining the geological origins of modern jade from prominent commercial locations. One of her research findings was published in Gems & Gemology in 2015. She was also invited to present at the 2018 GIA International Symposium in Carlsbad.
In addition to her work on modern jade, Zemin has over 4 years of research experience on ancient jade from the Shang Dynasty to the East Zhou Dynasty, collaborating with prestigious museums in China. As a researcher, she is well-versed in the use of advanced gemological instruments, including Infrared Spectroscopy, Raman Spectroscopy, UV-VIS absorption Spectroscopy, and XRF Spectroscopy, with expertise in both instrument operation and data analysis. In her role as an appraiser, Zemin aims to leverage her extensive lab experience in the field of Gems & Jewelry appraisal, with a particular focus on Fei Cui identification and evaluation.
