Spend part of your afternoon with John D. Russell, JD, ASA’s Strategic Partnership Officer, as he walks through what has (and has not) happened in the 117th Congress, with a look ahead to where things may go as a result of November’s midterm elections. John will also cover ASA’s recent amicus efforts in the 4th Circuit and provide an update on exciting changes with ASA Headquarters.
Learning Outcomes
Upon webinar completion, the participant will be able to:
- Monitor where the current federal legislative cycle sits;
- Analyze how possible election outcomes will affect future legislative and regulatory activities;
- Provide knowledge of the Vinoskey case and its relevance for ESOP practitioners; and
- Provide updates on ASA's operations and changes.

John D. Russell, JD | ASA
John D. Russell, JD is the Strategic Partnership Officer for ASA. John joined ASA in October 2009 and developed the organization’s internal government relations department and works on legislative and regulatory issues affecting ASA’s members. John also works on business development for ASA, seeking new growth opportunities for the organization.
John serves as ASA’s representative to the Appraisal Foundation Advisory Council (TAFAC) and previously served as the elected representative for TAFAC on the Board of Trustees of the Appraisal Foundation. He has a Juris Doctor from the Syracuse University College of Law, a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcasting and Mass Communications from the State University of New York at Oswego, and an honorary Designated Appraiser Residential credential from CNAREA. He lives in Potomac, Maryland with his wife and two children.
